The customer portal

The customer portal is a hosted, self-service page where your customers manage everything themselves: their payment history, their subscriptions, and their saved payment methods. It means fewer "please cancel my subscription" and "can I get a receipt" emails for you, because customers can do all of it on their own. The portal is branded with your workspace name and logo, so it feels like part of your business.

Signing in

The portal is passwordless. Customers do not create an account or remember a password.

  1. The customer goes to the portal and enters their email.
  2. Paysio emails them a 6-digit sign-in code.
  3. They enter the code and are signed in.

Only the email that made the purchases can sign in, so a customer only ever sees their own data. If they mistype their email, "Use a different email" takes them back to the start.

What customers can do

Once signed in, the portal has three sections in the sidebar.

Payment history

The Transactions tab lists every payment the customer has made to you. They can open any one to see its full receipt and details, so they can pull up a past purchase or proof of payment without contacting you.

Managing subscriptions

The Subscriptions tab lists their recurring plans. Depending on what you allow, a customer can:

  • Cancel a subscription (it ends at the end of the current period).
  • Reactivate a cancelled subscription.
  • Change which saved card a subscription is billed to.
  • Pause and resume, if you have turned that on in Settings > Payments.

The details of each action are covered in Managing subscriptions.

Payment methods

The Payment Methods tab shows the cards and bank accounts they have on file. They can add a new method, remove one, or set which is their primary method for renewals. See Saved payment methods.

One portal across merchants

If a customer has paid more than one business that uses Paysio with the same email, they see all of those businesses in one portal and switch between them with the workspace switcher. Each one shows only that business's transactions, subscriptions, and payment methods.

Sharing the portal

You do not have to send the portal link manually. Paysio puts it in front of customers automatically:

  • On the confirmation page after checkout, a Manage your purchases button links straight to your portal.
  • In receipt and subscription emails, buttons like Manage your account and Manage subscription open the portal.

You can also share the portal link yourself, for example in your own emails or on your website. The portal lives at your workspace's portal address, and customers sign in with their email as described above.

If you have live chat turned on, the support chat widget also appears in the portal, so customers can reach you without leaving the page.
