Customer profiles

Every person who pays you gets a customer profile. It gathers their contact details, addresses, saved payment methods, and full history of transactions and subscriptions in one place. This gives you a single view of each customer without any manual data entry.

The customer list

The Customers page lists everyone in your workspace. Each row shows:

  • The customer's name (or email if no name), with a small icon for each payment gateway they have paid through.
  • Their email.
  • How many orders they have placed.
  • Their lifetime spend.
  • When they were added.

Click any row to open that customer's profile.

You can sort the list (newest, highest spend, most transactions, and their reverses) and filter by spend bracket ($500+, $100 to $500, $1 to $100, or no spend), which is a quick way to find your best customers. Click a customer to open their full profile.

The customer page

A customer's profile is laid out with their history in the middle and a summary panel to the side.

The side panel shows their contact details: name, email, phone, and location, each with a copy button. Below that are quick stats: total spend, number of transactions, number of subscriptions, and the date they became a customer. It also lists the internal IDs for the customer and any payment gateway, and gives quick actions to block the customer at checkout.

The main area gathers everything you have on them:

  • Addresses: their billing and shipping addresses. You can edit either one directly from here.
  • Payment methods: the cards or bank accounts saved to their vault. You can add a method, set which is primary, or remove one. See Saved payment methods.
  • Transaction history: every payment they have made, each linking to its full detail.
  • Subscriptions: any recurring plans they are on.
  • Activity timeline: a combined, time-ordered history of their payments, subscriptions, saved cards, and notes.

If a customer has paid through more than one gateway, you still see one page. Every payment, subscription and saved payment method carries a small gateway mark that tells you where it went, the Properties rail lists every gateway the customer has used with you, and the Identifiers section shows the customer IDs on each of them. Adding a payment method uses the gateway your workspace currently routes cards to.

Notes

The side panel has a Notes box for your own internal notes about a customer, such as a support detail or a reminder. Type into it and it saves automatically when you click away (or press Ctrl+Enter). Notes are private to your team and never shown to the customer. They also appear in the customer's activity timeline so you can see when each was added.

Where customers come from

You do not create customers by hand one at a time. A profile appears automatically whenever someone pays. Specifically, customers come from:

  • Checkout: a customer is created the moment someone completes a payment, with the name, contact, and address details they entered.
  • Invoices and the virtual terminal: billing a new customer there creates their profile. See Virtual terminal.
  • Import: use the Import button on the Customers page to bring in customers from a CSV, JSON, TSV, or text file. Paysio reads the file and reports how many were imported, skipped, or had errors.
  • The API: customers can be created programmatically.

Because profiles are built from real activity, the list is always an accurate picture of who has actually paid you.
