Publishing your store

Building and editing your store happens in the builder, where only you can see it. Publishing is the step that makes it public, pushing your current design live to your store's web address so customers can visit and buy.

Publish vs draft

Your store has two versions at any time:

  • The working version in the builder, where all your edits happen. This is what you see in the preview as you make changes.
  • The published version, which is what visitors to your store actually see.

The two are separate on purpose. You can rework your store as much as you like, and the public store does not change until you publish. This means you never expose a half-finished design. When you are happy with the working version, click Publish in the builder to make it the live one.

If you have never published, your store address shows nothing (or your last published version) until you do.

Your store URL

Your store lives at the subdomain you claimed when you first opened the builder, for example yourstore.paysio.com. Once published, anyone with that address can visit your store. You can find and open the live URL from the top of the builder.

Using your own domain

If you would rather use your own web address, such as shop.yourbrand.com, you can connect a custom domain in Settings > Domain:

  1. Enter your domain and save it.
  2. Paysio shows you a CNAME record to add at your DNS provider. Add it exactly as shown.
  3. The status starts as Pending while it waits for DNS to propagate, then becomes Active once it is verified. If it shows Error, recheck your DNS record.

The secure certificate (SSL) is set up automatically, so your custom domain is served over HTTPS with no extra steps. Full details are in Custom domains.

Updating a live store

Publishing is not a one-time action. Whenever you make changes in the builder, they stay in your working version until you publish again. To update your live store, just click Publish once more, and the current version replaces what visitors were seeing.

Because each publish swaps in your current version, and every version is saved in history, you can always publish, keep editing, and republish, or roll back to an earlier version and publish that instead. See The store builder for version history.
