Payout links

A payout link is a way to send money without knowing where the recipient wants it. You set the amount and who it is for, and they open a link to claim it, choosing their own card or bank account. It is useful when you do not have the recipient's payout details on hand. Like sending money, payout links draw from your balance and are part of Paysio Debit & Payouts.

Creating a payout link

From the Payout links page, start a New Payout Link. At the top, choose Send to someone (this guide). The other option, Request link, flips the flow so people ask you for money; see Payout requests.

For a Send to someone link:

Enter the recipient email. As you type, matching existing customers are suggested. Only this address can claim the money.
Enter the amount. A breakdown shows what the recipient receives, the Paysio fee, and your total cost. Payout links are fee-exclusive: the recipient gets the full amount you set, and you pay that amount plus the fee. You cannot exceed your available balance.
Under More options you can add:
- A Note shown to the recipient, so they know what the money is for.
- An expiry (Link expires after 1, 3, 7, 14, or 30 days, default 7).
- A Custom URL for a friendlier link, checked for availability as you type.
- Custom fields to collect extra information from the recipient before they are paid.

Click Create & send link. Creating the link holds the amount plus fee from your available balance, so the money is reserved for the recipient until they claim it.

The claim experience

The recipient opens the link to a hosted claim page showing the amount and your note. From there:

They click Get started and enter the email the link was sent to.
Paysio emails them a 6-digit code, which they enter to verify it is really them. This is why only the intended recipient can claim.
They choose how to receive the money, a debit card or a bank account, and enter the details.
They confirm, and see that the money is on its way to their account.

You never handle their payout details. They enter them privately on the claim page.

Link statuses

Each payout link has a status, shown as a badge:

Pending: created and waiting to be claimed. The funds are held.
Paid: the recipient claimed it and the money was sent.
Cancelled: you cancelled it before it was claimed.
Expired: the claim window passed without it being claimed.

When a link is cancelled or expires unclaimed, the held funds are released back to your available balance, so nothing is lost.

Managing links

Open a payout link to see its details and timeline. While it is still pending you can:

Cancel the link, which stops it being claimed and returns the held funds to your balance.
Resend the notification email to the recipient, if they missed it.
Copy the link to share it yourself, and Edit its details.

Once a link is paid, its detail page shows who claimed it and when.

Who can claim

A Send to someone link is locked to the recipient email you entered. Because claiming requires a code sent to that address, no one else can take the money, even if the link is forwarded.

If you want an open link that anyone can request from, use a Request link instead, which can be limited to your existing customers. That flow is covered in Payout requests.
