How customers pay invoices

When you send an invoice, the customer gets an email with a link to a hosted invoice page. They do not need a Paysio account or a login. They open the page, review what they owe, and pay online in a few clicks. This guide covers what the customer sees and what happens after they pay.

The invoice page

The link in the email opens a clean, hosted page on Paysio. From top to bottom it shows:

  • Your branding: your workspace name and logo at the top, so the customer recognizes who is billing them.
  • The amount and number: the total due in large type, with the invoice number (such as INV-00001). If the invoice is already paid or void, a badge says so.
  • Invoice details: each item with its quantity and price, then the subtotal, any tax, any discount, and the final total. A paid invoice reads "Total paid" instead of "Total due".
  • Key dates and details: the invoice number, the date it was created, the due date if you set one, who it is billed to, and the date it was paid once payment goes through.
  • Your note: if you added a note when creating the invoice, it appears at the bottom under "Note".

The customer does not need to do anything to reach this page beyond clicking the link you emailed them.

Paying

If the invoice is unpaid, a Pay Invoice button sits near the top of the page. Clicking it opens a standard Paysio checkout, the same secure checkout used everywhere else on the platform. The customer enters their payment details and pays.

Because it is the normal checkout, everything you have configured applies: accepted card and bank options, wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay if enabled, and your checkout branding. See The checkout experience.

The Pay Invoice button does not appear on invoices that are already paid or void.

Downloading a PDF

Below the invoice card is a Download PDF link. The customer can click it to save or print a PDF copy of the invoice for their own records or accounting. This is available whether or not the invoice has been paid.

After payment

Once the customer pays:

  • The invoice status flips to Paid, and the page updates to show a Paid badge, "Total paid", and the date it was paid.
  • The payment is recorded as a normal transaction in your workspace, so it appears in your Transactions list alongside every other payment, and it can be refunded the same way.
  • The invoice's own timeline records the payment, so its detail page shows the full journey from created, to sent, to viewed, to paid.

Paysio also tracks when the customer first opens the invoice page, which is what moves an invoice from Sent to Viewed. That lets you see whether a customer has seen a bill they have not yet paid.
