Payment links

A payment link is a hosted checkout page for one or more of your products. You create it once, then share the link anywhere: by email, text message, or social media. When someone opens it, they get a full Paysio checkout, and the payment lands in your dashboard. No website and no code are needed.

You will find payment links in the sidebar under the Payments group, on the Payment Links page.

  1. In the sidebar, open the Payments group and click Payment Links.
  2. Click New link.
  3. Under Products, click Select a product and choose one. If you have not made a product yet, click Create product first. See Creating products.
  4. Click Create link.

That is the whole minimum. As soon as you pick a product, Paysio fills in the link name and its web address for you, so you can create a working link in one click. Everything below is optional.

Your link now lives at an address like paysio.com/pay/your-product.

You can put several products on a single link, so the customer checks out with all of them at once.

  1. On the new link page, click Add product.
  2. Choose another product.
  3. Repeat for as many products as you want.

At checkout the customer sees each product as a line item, with one combined total.

Letting customers choose a variant

If a product has options, such as Size or Color, each combination is a variant. On a link you decide whether the customer picks the variant, or whether the link is locked to one.

  1. Add a product that has options.
  2. A Variant picker appears.
  3. Choose Any variant (customer chooses) to let the buyer select at checkout, or pick a specific variant to lock the link to just that one.

Variants can have their own price and stock. See Variants and options.

Letting customers change the quantity

By default a link sells one of each product. To let buyers choose how many:

  1. Under a product, turn on Adjustable quantity.
  2. Set the Min, Default, and Max quantities.

The customer can then pick any amount between your minimum and maximum on the checkout page.

Collecting a shipping address

If you are shipping physical goods, turn on Collect shipping address. The customer is then asked for a delivery address before they pay, and it is saved with the order.

More options

Click More options to expand extra settings.

Every link has a short web address, or slug, that comes after /pay/. For example, a slug of "spring-sale" gives you paysio.com/pay/spring-sale.

  1. Paysio suggests a slug based on your first product, but you can change it.
  2. Slugs can use lowercase letters, numbers, and dashes only.
  3. As you type, Paysio checks the slug and tells you if it is available or already taken.
  4. A few words are reserved by the system (such as "checkout", "login", or "settings") and cannot be used. Paysio will tell you if you pick one.

Pick something short and memorable, since this is what customers see and type.

Custom fields

Custom fields let you collect extra information at checkout, such as an order note, an account ID, or a phone number.

  1. Under Custom fields, click Add field.
  2. Enter a label for the question.
  3. Choose the field type: Text, Text area, Number, Dropdown, or Checkbox.
  4. For a Dropdown, click Add option to list the choices.
  5. Turn on Req if the field must be filled in before the customer can pay.

The answers are saved with the payment and appear on the transaction detail, the customer's receipt, and the confirmation page. See Custom checkout fields.

Upsells

Upsells recommend extra products on the checkout page, so customers can add them in one tap.

  1. Under Upsells, click Add upsell.
  2. Choose a product to offer.
  3. Add more if you like.

See Upsells for details.

Open a link from the Payment Links list to find two buttons:

  • Copy link copies the full web address to your clipboard, ready to paste into an email, message, or post.
  • Open link opens the live checkout in a new tab, so you can see exactly what customers see.

From the list itself, the small open-in-new-window button on each row opens that link's checkout page directly.

If you have connected a custom domain, your links automatically use it (for example shop.yourbrand.com/pay/spring-sale) instead of the paysio.com address. See Custom domains.

Each link is either active or inactive. An inactive link stops accepting payments, but it is not deleted, so you can turn it back on later. This is useful for a sale that has ended or a product that is temporarily unavailable.

To change a link's status:

  1. Go to the Payment Links list.
  2. Click the small status badge next to a link's name. It flips between active and inactive right away.
  1. On the Payment Links list, click a link to open it.
  2. Change its products, slug, custom fields, upsells, or shipping setting.
  3. A Save changes button appears as soon as you make a change. Click it to save.

Your edits apply to future checkouts. Payments already taken on the link are not affected.

  1. Open the link from the list.
  2. Click Delete, then confirm.

Deleting is permanent, and customers can no longer open the link. If you only want to pause a link, deactivate it instead of deleting it.

The Payment Links list has two filters at the top right:

  • Filter by source. By default the list shows links you created in the Dashboard. Links created from your storefront, the API, or invoices are hidden until you switch this filter. If a link seems to be missing, change the source filter to All sources.
  • Filter by status. Show all links, or only active or inactive ones.

When sandbox mode is on, the page shows a Sandbox badge and lists only your sandbox links. See Sandbox mode.

Where payments land

When a customer pays through a link, the payment shows up in Transactions, in the Home activity feed, and in your Balance. To see what your customers experience while paying, read The checkout experience.
